The new JBL Marine Series Speakers are ready to take on anything Mother Nature throws your way. JBL MS6520 is designed to take on the sun, sea spray and scrub downs, it will suit outdoor climate changes just fine. With Plus One (tm) woofers and balanced dome tweeters, you’ll hear the clarity of your audio above the raucous sounds of the sea.
Designed to take on the sun, sea spray and scrub downs, these powerful speakers feature waterproof motor structures, a one-piece cast-polymer basket, a sealed magnet, and rubber surrounds.
Harman's patented Plus One (tm) polypropylene cones provide more overall speaker-cone area than other cones in its class - the result is higher sensitivity, increased low-frequency output and greater musical character.
Weather resistant tweeters deliver a smooth high-frequency response and increased power handling for highs and mids, which equates to more lifelike sound from vocals, cymbals, brass instruments and pianos.
Their one-piece polymer basket is designed to stand the test of time, even after long exposure to the sun and salt. Rubber surrounds offer superior edge protection and are much more reliable than foam. And a grille-mounted tweeter allows the front of the woofer cone to be sealed, protecting the motor structure from sea spray.
For most brands, off-the-shelf speakers and a cursory approval of frequency response curves are good enough. That's not the case with JBL. We don't only listen to our speakers against the competition - we voice them against each other to ensure each line has the consistent JBL sound signature that's known and sought out by those who care about their audio. This is just part of an extensive development process undertaken by some of the best transducer engineers in the world to provide the finest listening experience at any price point.
JBL tests every speaker design to rigid specifications, subjecting them to extreme conditions that would break lesser speakers - this ideal for equipment that will be heavily driven in the elements. JBL freeze them, bake them, shake them, blast them with ultraviolet light and drive them at full power for days to make sure your audio investment lasts for years.

JBL MS-6520 Review by Sam Shrader
Perfect upgrade for existing JBL MS 6200 I have had about five years. JBL labs keeps on improving and I will stay current from now on. So I have sacd signal working on boat. The JBL older model MS 6200 speakers stand along the two or three best sounding marine speakers in the class. Now here's where it gets interesting: JBL patented Plus One technology gives the MS 6520 speaker the sound of a speaker a size larger, as in closer to 8" than 6.5. I did A/B test installing new 6520 in left channel old 6200 in right channel. Left speaker simply overwhelmed the right by 20-30% with better bass, midrange, balance, loudness, amount of detail, everything. Plus One allows JBL to use a larger driver surface by up to 24% in the same hole. And It works. Better materials all round also especially tweeter. Bottom line: this has got to be the best sounding 6.5" marine speaker in existence.
